Outlaw Territory 3, the third volume in Image Comics’ series of graphic novels featuring comics set in the Old West, has been nominated for both a Will Eisner Comic Industry Award and a Harvey Award in the category of Best Anthology. The book was compiled and edited by Michael Woods, and among it’s offerings is the story, “Treasure,” written by John Schlim Jr and illustrated by comics legend Val Semeiks.

Sponsored by Showtime, the 2014 Eisner Awards will be presented in a gala event at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego. The awards are named after the late Will Eisner, who is regarded as the father of the modern graphic novel. A blue-ribbon committee selects nominees from thousands of entries submitted by publishers and creators, which are then voted on by members of the comic book industry.

The Harvey Awards are one of the comic book industry’s oldest and most respected awards, named after the late Harvey Kurtzman who is remembered as one of the industry’s most innovative talents. They are the only industry awards both nominated by and selected by the full body of comic book professionals. The 2014 Harvey Awards will be presented at this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con.
